Rama: It is not an easy day for DP, it is a traumatic process

TIRANA, Sept 10 /ATA/ PM Edi Rama, at a media briefing on Friday after the second plenary session of this legislature, spoke about the election of Lindita Nikolla at the helm of parliament as well as the stand of DP MPs in parliament who tore the ballot papers and walked out of the hall during her inaugural speech.

“ From today at the helm of Parliament of Albania is a woman, a highly respected colleague, but also a politician who has never fanned the flames of the conflict,” Rama said.

Regarding the stand of DP during the swearing-in of MPs and election of Nikolla as parliament speaker, PM Rama said that it is not that easy for DP.

“It is understandable for them in a day like this, because it is not an easy day for the Democratic Party, it is a traumatic process, so we must show patience and respect for the traumas of others,” said Rama.
PM also touched on the relationship with President Meta.

“The difference is clear for everyone. The difference between political positions and the constitutional framework and as long as Ilir Meta is in office and waiting to be tried by the country’s top court, he remains in office, which does not depend on our desire,” Rama said.

We, Rama continued, have dismissed him, but this is a Constitutional Republic and has two tiers, the Assembly and the Constitution.

Asked about the gesture of collecting the ballot papers for the election of new Speaker of Parliament, which were torn near the ballot box by the DP MPs, Rama said that it was merely an instinctive gesture and this mandate is crucial in the effort to clean Albania.
We will soon take a decision on banning the use of disposable plastic bags.
