Veliaj inspects works on Pyramid project: Largest technological hub to throw open the doors next year

TIRANA, Sept 3 /ATA/ The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj inspected on Friday the progress of works on the Pyramid, which will soon be converted into the largest technology hub of the Balkans.

The mayor promised that next year, other than “Tirana, the European Youth Capital 2022” event, the largest technology hub will throw open the doors for youngsters of the capital city.

Next year, which coincides with the “European Capital of Youth,” we will give the young people in Tirana probably the best gift ever, which is a large digital house at the heart of the capital, the most coveted place. It survived intact despite the hardships Tirana has gone through. “Although Rinia Park was occupied, the square or other areas, the pyramid was preserved, but this is not enough, because you can either preserve something by leaving it to deteriorate, or you can restore it,” Veliaj said.

Veliaj was accompanied by students and teachers of “Tumo Center,” who saw first-hand the work done there. The mayor stressed that the “Tumo Center” numbers about 1 thousand students registered so far that are fond of learning computer science.

“We will switch to a two-shift work process to make sure we make up for the lost time due to cancellation of deliveries during the lockdown. I am very proud of the fact that we have hit that record of 1 thousand students compelling us to expand the spaces. I am ready to rent more spaces to meet the demand for digital learning, ” said Veliaj.

The Pyramid Revitalization Project entails a transparent and light-filled building. Also, the project aims to create a new symbol for Tirana, where the building is accessible from all sides. The pyramid will serve as an incubator for businesses in the field of innovation, art and creativity. The programmes that will be offered are: animation, game development, cinematography, web design, music, writing, drawing, graphic design, 3D modeling, programming, robotics, motion graphics, photography and new media. This project is being implemented with the support of the “Albanian-American Development Fund” (AADF).
