Accreditation, more security for buildings and infrastructure

TIRANA, August 19 /ATA/ All certificates issued by laboratories accredited by the General Directorate of Accreditation, certificates of management systems, certification of persons and inspection issued by certification and inspection bodies accredited by the General Directorate of Accreditation, are equivalent and accepted at European level.

Minister of Finance and Economy Anila Denaj said that in this context, accreditation offers more security for buildings and infrastructure.

According to her, accredited standards and conformity assessment are the basis to cover the techniques, products and materials used in the construction industry.

“Accreditation of testing laboratories provides companies with information and trust in suppliers,” said Denaj, noting that “for consumers there is more guarantee for new and reliable buildings.”

Albania still offers a lot of potential for infrastructure development, with the construction sector playing an important role.

For its own needs and development, the construction sector is becoming the engine of the country’s economic growth. The increase of liquidity from tourism inflows, remittances, has encouraged entrepreneurs to invest in construction, especially apartments and tourist centers, according to the best standards, which unify the development of this sector with foreign markets.

The General Directorate of Accreditation has signed four agreements with the European Accreditation Organization (EA), in the field of testing according to ISO / IEC 17025, in the field of management system certification according to ISO / IEC17021-1, in the field of certification of persons according to the standard 17024, and in the field of inspection according to the ISO / IEC 17020 standard.

The signing of the agreements is a great achievement for the General Directorate of Accreditation and for the promotion of business competition. /j.p/p.s./
