TIRANA, Aug 18/ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, in her capacity as coordinator for the humanitarian operation in aid of Afghan citizens, inspected on Wednesday the reception centre and accommodation structures set up to host an unspecified number of arrivals.

Minister Xhaçka met with directors of several structures of the Armed Forces, State Police and Border Police and closely followed the work done at the reception centre in Rinas Airport, where Afghan citizens will receive first aid, psychological / social assistance and basic services.

The centre equipped with medical and first aid tents has a capacity of 400 people and will serve as the first stop for passengers arriving in Albania. Then, as part of the legal procedures, they will be accompanied to the accommodation structures in Tirana or Durrës, depending on the number of people who will be temporarily housed in Albania.

Minister Xhaçka informed that the situation is being closely followed in coordination with the allies and that all measures have been taken no matter when the first plane arrives.

Afghan citizens will stay for a few weeks in these centers to move to several hotel facilities on the coast awaiting completion of resettlement procedures for their transfer to the final destination. /a.a/sm/
