TIRANA, Aug 17 /ATA/ – The Bank of Albania said Tuesday that the second quarter of 2021 saw a low exchange rate volatility.
Albania’s national currency Lek has kept gradually gaining ground against Europe’s single currency Euro since March.
According to the Bank of Albania’s fixed exchange rates, one Euro was traded averagely at 122.8 lek in the first three weeks in July, down from 123.3 lek in March.
The appreciation of the national currency during this period is within its seasonal behaviour, but it has been gradual and moderate compared to previous years.
Restrictions on the movement of people, as part of measures to curb the spread of the pandemic, continue to condition a weaker tourism activity compared to previous years, and consequently, lower foreign exchange inflows from this sector.
Albanian currency Lek appreciated by 1.2% in the second quarter compared to the same period of the previous year.
