Fires in Protected Areas, Dedej: Deliberate fires continue to be reported to police

TIRANA, Aug 6/ATA/ The Director General of the National Agency of Protected Areas, Zamir Dedej has reacted today to the situation of forest fires in the country stating that, “so far we have had small fires starting from Thethi, Valbona, a part of the river Buna, in Kukës in Korab-Koritnik Natural Park, in Gjirokastra at Bredhi i Hotovës, a fireplace hearth in Erseka and in the area of Munella in Lezha.

In a statement to the media, Dedej noted that it is essential that all relevant structures are committed to isolating the flames and prompt intervention.

“We managed to put out the first fire, but fires were lit immediately behind our backs. We see today that shepherds set the forests on fire and we are facing a situation where fires burn forests. We are dealing with deliberate fires which may not have economic damage. But the fire in Karaburun expanding to the Llogara forest could be a great material damage,” he said.

“Today have been reported three fires in Orosh in Lezha region, a fireplace hearth in Erseka and a fireplace hearth in the park of Valbona, which is at the top of the mountain, and it is time to think that these are deliberate fires. We are continuing to make denunciations to the police, so that these evil intentions to be detained,” Dedej said. //a.i/
