TIRANA, Aug 5/ATA/ The average inflation rate in the second quarter of 2021 increased to 1.8%, following the decrease in the inflation rate in the first quarter of this year, the Bank of Albania-BoA reported.
The Bank of Albania announced today that, the rate of increase in prices in the second quarter of this year, mainly reflected a higher inflation of fuels and food items, especially raw ones, while the inflation of other basket items has remained stable.
In particular, core inflation rate, which tracks changes in prices that consumers pay for a basket of goods which excludes volatile food and fuel costs in the medium term has remained stable.
On the whole, inflation performance in recent quarters has been subject to frequent and unexpected fluctuations in supply factors, and are expected to have a transient impact.
On the other hand, the factors with medium-term impact on inflation rate; increase in wages and production costs; price performance in partner countries and inflation expectations have remained stable but they are still insufficient to return inflation to target.//a.i/
