Albania, Great Britain to strengthen cooperation between penitentiary systems

TIRANA, July 28 /ATA/ – A recently signed Prisoner Transfer Agreement will further strengthen the cooperation between the penitentiary systems of Albania and Great Britain in the future.

The Minister of Justice Etilda Gjonaj, in the course of her official visit to Great Britain, held a meeting with the Wandsworth prison staff, one of the largest and oldest prisons in London.

Gjonaj informed that the meeting focused on prison service recruitment, security, intelligence and technology employed in Great Britain and Albania.

“We also discussed the practices to combat corruption in prisons and the employment programs in Great Britain,” Gjonaj said.

“British experience and exchanges with our partners have improved security and intelligence in the Albanian penitentiary system and this cooperation will further strengthen following the Prisoner Transfer Agreement,” Gjonaj said.
