TIRANA, July 27/ATA/ – The Chairman of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha stated today that the final OSCE / ODIHR report on the April 25 elections, “confirmed that April 25 had nothing to do with democracy and free and fair elections.”
Basha added that, “The report confirms what we have said from the beginning that April 25 was an election massacre. Albanians who sought change have seen this with their own eyes. But, the Albanians were illegally prevented by deceit, violence, blackmail.”
“Massive buying of votes and pressure on voters. We have said it; the report says that, too. Merger of the ruling party and the state. We have said it; the report says that, too. Misuse of public assets to the advantage of the ruling party. Abuse of power in public functions. We have said it and the report says that, too “, said Basha.
“Before and after April 25, the Democratic Party denounced election crimes. We have filed about 185 lawsuits with the SPAK and the district prosecutor’s offices regarding these crimes, but still following the tradition of impunity of files 184 and 339, whose characters continue to hold the country’s integration hostage, none of the electoral crimes is punished, so far “, said Basha.
“Today, the investigation and punishment of vote buying is one of the primary recommendations of the OSCE-OHIDR which considers it an absolute priority to guarantee free and fair elections,” said Basha./p.s./
