TIRANA, July 23 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama on Friday congratulated the Tokyo 2020 Albanian Olympic team.
The government head posted images showing the opening ceremony as the 2020 Tokyo Olympics officially started today.
The Albanian team, comprising nine athletes, paraded with the national Albanian flag.
The internationally successful runner Luiza Gega and weightlifter Briken Çalja were Albania’s flagbearers at opening ceremony of Tokyo Olympics
Albania’s national delegation at the “Tokyo Olympics 2020 includes nine athletes running in six different sport disciplines.
Albania is represented at the Tokyo Olympics by Luiza Gega (athletics, women’s 3000m steeplechase); Briken Calja (weighlifting 73 kg); Nikol Merizaj (women’s 50-m freestyle); Izmir Smajlaj (athletics, long jump); Matvei Petrov (artistic gymnastics, pommel horse); Manuela Delilaj (shooting sport, 10-m air pistol); Erkand Qerimaj (weightlifting, 81 kg); Kledi Kadiu (men’s 100-m freestyle swimming); Indrit Cullhaj (judo, 66 kg).
