TIRANA, July 19/ATA/ German Ambassador in Tirana Peter Zingraf expressed gratitude for Albania’s solidarity with Germany facing a flood situation due to heavy rainfall.
“The devastation caused by the flood disaster in Germany shocked us all. Ambassador Zingraf expresses thanks for Albania’s solidarity, the institutions and the citizens!”, is read in the statement of the Embassy.
Further on, the German embassy drew the attention to the fact that during the recent years, in 2002, 2005 and 2013, there have been floods with severe destruction as well as casualties in Germany and neighboring countries. But, the death toll during the current disaster was many times higher. Reconstruction will take years and the loss of human lives is irreparable,” the German Embassy said in the statement.
“Disaster reminds us in Germany and throughout Europe that intensive protection of the climate and natural landscape is urgent if we are to prevent or at least mitigate such deadly events. We thank the Albanian friends for their expression of solidarity! ”, the statement ends./p.s./
