TIRANA, July 19 /ATA/ – Albania’s exports rose 40.9% year on year to over 177 billion lek in the first half of 2021 as the country’s economy is quickly rebounding in the wake of two consecutive severe blows, namely the devastating earthquake that hit Albania on November 2019, and the global COVID-19 pandemic, data from the National Institute of Statistics, INSTAT, showed on Monday.
INSTAT said in its latest report on the country’s foreign trade that exports almost doubled in the first six months of the year.
According to INSTAT, imports were valued at 354 billion lek, rising 30.5% year-on-year in first six months through June.
INSTAT data show that Albania’s trade deficit rose by 21.7% to 178 billion lek compared to the same period of the previous year.
