New border point Albania -Montenegro to open soon

TIRANA, July 16 /ATA/ Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi, together with Minister of Justice, Etilda Gjonaj, held a meeting on Friday with Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, who is on an official visit to Tirana.

Çuçi and Gjonaj touched on issues related to security and strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

The opening of a new border point between Albania and Montenegro is also of high importance, the Ministry of Interior reported on Friday.

“Together with Minister of Justice, we had a meeting and a working lunch in Tirana with the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic, who is also a young and ambitious politician from the ranks of Albanians in the neighboring country. We discussed the increase of cooperation in the field of security, the control of Albania-Montenegro border, joint police actions against trafficking and organized crime, as well as monitoring of the situation during the tourist season which sees an increasing influx of passengers from the two countries, ” stressed Çuçi.

“The good news is that we will soon set to operation a new border crossing point between Albania and Montenegro to further facilitate the movement of people and capital. Our two countries still have untapped potentials of cooperation. The visit of a high representative of the Montenegrin government from the ranks of Albanians for the first time, I believe, is a good opportunity to intensify cooperation between the two countries and our peoples, as well as to address the problems carried over from the past or the new ones, ” said Çuçi. /a.a/sm/
