TIRANA, July 5 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ The DP Secretary for Legal Issues Çlirim Gjata has reacted on Monday over the ruling of Constitutional Court on National Theatre asking from SPAK to arrest the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
At a press conference, Gjata said that “two days ago through its ruling on the National Theater, the Constitutional Court proved once again that in Albania the state has been caught by corruption, the laws are made and breached to serve the interests of a minority, to the detriment of the majority of citizens. The ruling proved that Edi Rama and Erjon Veliaj violated the Constitution, used violence against the artists, activists and citizens, demolished the National Theatre, using RENEA forces armed to the teeth to grab public land and clear the way for the high-rise buildings that would launder proceeds of narcotics and corruption. For three years in a row the Democratic Party stood up for cultural heritage, artists, public interest, the DP stood up against a regime that behaved and behaves like a gang of robbers, which has brought the capital city to its knees by turning it into a launderer of money deriving from crime and corruption. ”
“The artists fulfilled their duty to protect the Theatre and heritage, citizens fulfilled their duty to protect public property and safeguard the Constitution, the Democratic Party fulfilled its duty to stand up against the regime and defend the public interest. Now is the time for SPAK to do its job by delivering justice on the case of Theater. And from the ashes of this temple that was unjustly demolished and on the site of the historic building, we can all together rebuild the democracy that was sneakily attacked by the April 25 electoral massacre,” said Gjata.
