TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ – The Standing Parliamentary Committee on Production Activities, Trade and Environment, approved Monday a package of four draft laws, including “Establishment of the Railway Safety Authority”; “Establishment of the Railway Regulatory Authority”; “Division of the company Albanian Railways and “Establishment, organization and functioning of the National Authority for the Investigation of Railway and Maritime Accidents and Incidents”, which precede the development of the railway transport sector in our country.
The report states that the objective of the draft law “On the establishment of the Railway Regulatory Authority” is the establishment of this body, whose function is to regulate the market and free competition in rail transport, as well as to encourage private entities participate in developments of this transport in Albania.
According to the document, the market urgently requires the establishment of the Infrastructure Administrator as a separate entity from the railway transport processes, as is the case in EU countries.
