TIRANA, June 27 /ATA/ After 20 years as immigrant worker in Italy, the Albanian farmer returns and starts working on the family lands.
In addition to his savings from work as emigrant, he has accessed the National Subsidy Scheme launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Milva Ekonomi, published on Sunday the story of the farmer, who tells us that he has returned from emigration several years ago and is now engaged in agriculture.
“Initially I worked in freight transport as a truck driver. It was a tiring job that I did for several years in a row. Although it was a high-paying job, it was not enough for me so I decided to shift to agriculture.
Italy has a developed agriculture, so I gained a great deal of experience there. In fact, we learned a lot about the latest techniques in cultivating the crops and how to get more organized and easily access the market for sale, ” he says.
After nearly 20 years there, I decided to come back and start working the lands of my family.
“I invested in agricultural machinery and started working. Things were going well so I decided to rent more land to grow the production. And for this reason I rented more land for use, and now I have cultivated about 15 ha of land. It was not very difficult to find land for rent, because a vast surface area has been left barren due to emigration. I feel sorry to see this phenomenon, but in the end everyone will try their luck,” says the farmer.
“ Meanwhile the problem of irrigation has been tackled by the ministry and with more support on the way I am confident that our production will grow,” the farmer says.
The National Agriculture Scheme 2021 provides a fund of 804 million ALL in subsidies for farmers.
