First five operators for maritime activities certified in Saranda

TIRANA, June 25 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – First five operators for commercial vessel operations and maritime activities were certified during a ceremony in the southern coastal town of Saranda on Friday.

Addressing the event, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi said “maritime tourism offers huge potentials for development like in every other Mediterranean nation.”

Tourism Minister noted that the government has significantly eased procedures for registration of Albanian flag-bearing vessels.

“The ongoing investments here in Saranda, the new tourist ports in Vlora and Himara, as well as the major port project in Durres and Shengjin represent a golden opportunity for Albania to launch new maritime tourism,” Klosi said.

“It is a policy that was hampered by the pandemic, but it was not totally and here we are today, with the Albanian business initiative developing important investment projects. We are visiting today a new maritime tourism operator which adds to the tourism package on offer in Saranda. I feel glad that with the legal framework complete and with the first certificates issued to the maritime tourism operators we also inaugurate today two new vessels due to sail in Saranda bay, offering an additional tourist attraction in the southern coastal town of Saranda,” Klosi said.
