TIRANA, June 21 /ATA/ – “Launching tender for the construction of wind power plants represents a great opportunity to attract private investment,” the Ambassador of Switzerland to Albania, Adrian Maître said in his remarks at a ceremony marking the launch of first tender for eolic energy.
According to the Swiss Ambassador, wind power generation not only provides the opportunity to reduce energy supply risks, but it also reduces costs.
“You are not diversifying energy sources through other ways, but through renewable energy. You are meeting high standards to set up a low-carbon emission economy, and you are contributing to tackling climate change. I congratulate you on this important step,” Swiss diplomat Maître stated.
According to Maître, the transparent process being carried out by the Albanian government better serves the goals of attracting private investment in this sector.
“I am sure that the projects will fully comply with environmental and social standards. I look forward to seeing qualified bidders with suitable proposals,” he added.
Swiss Ambassador further focused on areas of bilateral cooperation, highlighting water and waste management, including solid waste, projects on enhancing energy efficiency and safety of dams.
The wind park projects are intended to make a major contribution to improving the country’s future energy supply and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The first wind power plants tender will diversify Albania’s energy sources, increase its resilience to climate change and is expected to attract foreign investment.
