Xhaçka in Antalya Forum: Decision for first InterGovernmental Conference, critical to credibility of EU

TIRANA, June 20 /ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated in Antalya forum entitled “Neighbours SEE Together: The Future of Europe,” where she stressed that the European Union must continue to remain committed to the region through concrete actions and promises kept.

“Enlargement policy is based on the iron principle of assessing the merit of each country. But it also requires predictability of the process, through which any achievement of standards or criteria should lead to the next step down the road to the EU. “A credible and tangible process is an irreplaceable support for the difficult reforms that we are implementing,” the Minister said during her speech.

Also in attendance of the forum panels were MEP Sergey Lagodisnky, EU Representative for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and former Romanian Prime Minister Viktor Ponta.

Lajcak and Lagodinsky stressed that there should be no more delays in opening negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.

Turkey hosted the Summit and the Ministerial of the South East European Cooperation Process for three days in a row, as well as the first Diplomatic Forum of Antalya with the participation of the heads of state and government from over 30 countries, where Albania was represented by a delegation chaired by Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka.
