TIRANA, June 20 /ATA/ –By I. Vata/ – Minister of Justice Etilda Gjonaj said Sunday that the justice system reform package also regulated a new criminal justice system for juveniles.
“In line with international standards, the Juvenile Criminal Code has brought about a radical development in treating juveniles in conflict with the law and juvenile victims and witnesses of criminal offenses,” Gjonaj said.
Justice Minister added that “first Justice Strategy for Minors 2018-2021 has been adopted for first time in the country.”
“Successful implementation of the provisions of this strategy has yielded several accomplishments in terms of ensuring juveniles with access to justice and due process of law for juveniles, preventing the re-involvement of juveniles in crimes, their reintegration and rehabilitation and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation,” Gjonaj said.
