TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ – The Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi said 2021 will be the year of tourism boom that will significantly support growth of the national economy.
Klosi said in a TV interview on Tuesday evening that Albania has opened its borders for a week now and no PCR test or COVID-19 tests and no other accompanying documents are required for the international visitors to enter the country. He noted that the decision has helped the influx of tourists to grow significantly in recent weeks.
The “open door policy” is an effort to help tourism as one of the most important sectors of the country’s mainstream economy, also as one of the sectors worst hit by the devastating earthquake in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.
“We are currently negotiating a significant Saudi investment in hotel industry. Meanwhile, the first charter flights with tourists on board are scheduled to arrive from Riyadh next week, while flights from Dubai continue and charter flights with tourists from Egypt will also begin soon,” Tourism Minister said.
