TIRANA, June 7/ATA/ On World Food Safety Day 2021, the Albania’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Milva Ekonomi held a series of meetings with the leaders of the responsible institutions, where they discussed the promotion of controls and increase of food safety, working closely with producers and consumers.
Minister Ekonomi visited the Institute of Food and Veterinary Safety (IFVS) to closely inspect the changes that this institute has undergone in recent years, aligning with the latest innovative technology, methods of molecular biology and sequencing to the level of genes according to the requirements of the Union European.
An estimated 600 million – almost 1 in 10 people in the world – fall ill after eating contaminated food and 420 000 die every year, resulting in the loss of 33 million healthy life year. //a.i./
