“Successful election process”/Celibashi: So far, only one complaint to CEC

TIRANA, May 7/ATA/ The State Election Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi stated today that there is only one complaint to the CEC for the April 25 elections, submitted by the SMI related to the election results in Gjirokastra region.

During a TV interview, Celibashi said that, “In the quality of State Commissioner, I support every kind of initiative which aims to clarify every dark point related to these elections. In regard to the part related to the activity of CEC, so far it seems clear that no one has any claims, but also for the activity of other institutions, or in general for the entire election process.”

“It is very important that we clarify everything and the parties understand where they have been in the end with the result they have received,” he said.

Asked about the invalid ballots and which of the parties was damaged the most, Celibashi said, “We cannot say this, we do not know which of the parties was damaged in this large, significant number of invalid ballots. I think that this great invalidity of the ballot papers, this number has definitely come because of the way we have presented the contents of the ballot paper. The presentation of the candidates through the numbers seems to have created a kind of confusion and uncertainty among the voters, despite an unprecedented campaign made by the CEC to inform the voters about how they should fill in the ballot paper ”.

Regarding the problems during the voting day and the counting process, Celibashi said that, “For the voting day, it is not that there were any such problems that indicated a violation of the integrity of the voting process, etc. The problem in the early hours of the morning was related to the use of the electronic identification device. It was a super giant commitment for the CEC and I think it was a project that can be considered successful because only in 167 polling stations we could not use the electronic identification device “.

“There have been sporadic reports of commissioners’ conflicts at a polling station, but then over time and voting hours have been resolved. “But, they have been quite sporadic compared to other times,” he said.

“I think that the counting process at least the first part of it was very well administered and there was a kind of tension, but that seems to have served the integrity of the process well, because the parties have shown all the care that at least in terms of counting votes for political parties and independent candidates, the process should go very well “, said Celibashi. /a.a/p.s./
