May 5/”Martyrs Day” commemorated

TIRANA, May 5/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama marked today the “Martyrs of the Nation Day”, who have given their lives for freedom, democracy, human rights and the dignity of every Albanian.

“Respect forever,” Rama said as he shared in the social media a photo from the “Mother Albania” Memorial.

“Martyrs’ Day” originated on May 5, 1942, when Qemal Stafa was killed and his activity became a symbol of the Anti-Fascist National Liberation War.

In honor of the memory of the fallen for the freedom of the country, every year the top leaders of the state pay homage at the Martyrs’ Cemetery./m.m/j.p/p.s./
