TIRANA, May 5/ATA/- The Committee on Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights has started today the meeting on the review of the request of 50 deputies for starting the procedure of dismissal of the President of the Republic.
In his speech, the chairman of the Law Commission, Ulsi Manja, according to the procedure and regulations, gave the floor to the deputy speaker of the Parliament, Vasilika Hysi, who presented the request of 49 deputies pursuant to Article 112 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
The President is the symbol of the nation and should not cause conflict or division and damage national unity. In this context, the duties of the President are well defined in the Constitution. The President is not allowed to exercise other powers except those recognized by the Constitution in Article 92.
“In this context, deputies have expressed regret and have noticed that from the moment of taking office, the President has violated both Article 92 and Article 94 of the Constitution. He has repeatedly committed acts and behaviors which in the assessment of the deputies who signed the request constitute a serious violation of the Constitution. These behaviors have caused social and political divisions, have not served the general interest of the Albanian people but have brought disruption as the President has sided with one political force or group,” Hysi said. //a.i/
