TIRANA, April 25 /ATA/ – First charter flight with around 200 tourists from Ukraine landed in Tirana’s International Airport on Sunday, with ALER Travel officially opening the 2021 summer tourism season in Albania.
The Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi said earlier on the day that Albania expects this year a more successful tourism season than last year.
“The COVID-19 rollout for hotel and tourism service workers will help us for a full tourism season similar to the visitor number in 2019,” Klosi said.
Tatyana Bajraktari, president of Aler Travel said that the company expects to conduct 20 flights a week with international tourists mainly from Ukraine and Russia.
According to her, the tourist charter flights have started earlier compared to previous years and the flights are scheduled to continue until end of October.
“Russian-speaking tourists visited the country during entire winter season, with Albania being the first country for them suitable for year-round tourism,” she said.
Around 30,000 tourists from these countries visited Albania amid the pandemic last year, whereas their number is expected to double this year.
