Infrastructure Minister: Kukes airport, competitive tariffs, synergies for  tourism development along with Tirana and Vlora airports

TIRANA, April 16 /ATA/ – The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku said Friday evening that the new Kukes airport, due to receive the first inaugural flight this Sunday, will offer competitive tariffs and a fresh impetus to tourism.

Infrastructure and Energy Minister provided details on the Kukes airport, the competitive tariffs, the synergies for tourism development, the new airport in Vlora, Rinas airport expansion project and the 10-year strategy to further strengthen civil aviation in Albania.

“During second term of Rama government in office we have drafted the National Plan on Civil Aviation Development in the Republic of Albania for several reasons. The first reason is of course to ensure access and free movement of the citizens without being forced to fly to Tirana only. Second, development of tourism is closely linked to development of the transport infrastructure, mainly ports and airports and therefore construction of new airports is a must for tourism and the country’s development in general,” she said.

According to the Minister, every foreign investor choosing to invest in Albania has asked for one of the world-famous criteria, a 45-minute away distance from the nearest airport.

“If we want to develop the country’s north that has an extraordinary tourist potential in terms of natural beauties and traditional cuisine, if we want to develop the Albanian Riviera, we must meet our demand for development through the construction of airport infrastructure,” Balluku added.
