TIRANA, April 14 /ATA/ “In the third mandate, we start another great battle, the battle to bring foreign universities to Albania and to integrate them with public universities”, stated today from Burrel Prime Minister Edi Rama.
In a meeting with the young people of Burrel, Rama said that, “Our goal for the third term is to have the same programs in every university with programs one takes at a university in Italy, Greece, etc.”
“Young people should not say ‘I am going abroad’. Because there it costs more for them and for Albania. Meanwhile, if these programs are here, the best ones have two choices: they can go abroad, but they also have the choice to go to every university and get the diploma that is valid the same with the diploma obtained abroad”, said Rama.
The prime minister said that, “This could not be done before with all those ghost private universities. Things need their time and we take our time not by promising miracles, but only by working harder every day, insisting, enduring and never forgetting that climbing is difficult”, said Rama.
The prime minister also focused on the education reform, where, as he said, “We have found mountains of books written by all kinds of copyists with a program of alternative textbooks and with a monstrous corruption in the book production system”.
“Today, a young man from Mati, Kalaja e Dodes, Konispol, from every corner of Albania who goes to school has the textbook of Oxford, Cambridge, Pearson. We have provided a completely different system of education, a completely different methodology, another organization of the teaching workload “, said Rama.
“Did you think that you could attend university based on your results and not be sons and daughters of the minister, the MP or someone who passes you in the rankings? Today, we have built a system all online, transparent, competitive, based on merit and it cannot be touched because it leaves traces”, he said./p.s./
