Divjake farmer benefits subsidies to cover 50% of greenhouse plastic film cover cost under National Agriculture Support Scheme

TIRANA, April 5 /ATA/ – The businesses related to agriculture are becoming quite profitable and this sector is increasingly attracting attention of younger farmers across the country, who keep expanding the area of the cultivated land and growing the production of fresh agricultural produce that meet the needs of the domestic market and export.

Frida Krifca, the Head of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency (ARDA), recalled the fact that April 4 marked the International Carrot Day, a root vegetable being extensively cultivated and grown in the Divjake fields.

Krifca said that Emirjon is one of the many carrot growers in Divjake.

During a visit to Emirjon’s farm, Krifca was familiarized with this business needs to further expand and develop. Emirjon spoke passionately about his work as a farmer and voiced optimism about the support under the National Support Scheme to cover 50% of greenhouse plastic film cover cost.

“I am 35 years old and I am a father of two kids. I am very optimistic about the future and the success of this sector. I have launched my firm 15 years ago and I think about expanding the cultivated land each year,” Emirjon said.

He grows mainly fresh vegetables, including carrots.

“It was most recently that I built a 8000 square meter greenhouse, where I am growing spring lettuce and I send the whole production to the collection and storage point. I would like to invest further in agriculture thanks to the support I have been granted from the government,” he said.

Krifca noted that ARDA has provided subsidies to Emirjon under the National Support Scheme to replace his greenhouse plastic cover.
