Tomini: Up to 15 thousand vaccinations a day by next week

TIRANA, March 24 /ATA/ Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection, Eugena Tomini, expressed her optimism on Wednesday that the mass vaccination of the population will start next week.

During a televised interview, Tomini stressed that although the agreement with Turkey on the Chinese vaccine is expected to be concluded tonight, we are confident that a sufficient delivery will be procured to ramp up the vaccination up to 12-15 thousand doses a day.

“Every effort has been made to insure a considerable amount to cover the mass immunization of the population. When speaking about mass vaccination, we mean 12,000-15,000 thousand vaccines per day, which means that the quantity set out in the contract is very optimistic to ensure the mass immunization. After concluding the contract with Turkey today evening, the first batches will arrive in the following days to continue with a mass vaccination drive,” said Tomini.

Tomini went on saying that vaccination will proceed based on a combined schedule with the process of inoculation with ‘Pfizer’, ‘AstraZeneca’ and ‘Sputnik’ already on track and deployment of the Chinese vaccine set to start any time soon.
