TIRANA, March 16 /ATA/- Former Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, candidate for MP in Lezha, Lindita Nikolla stated today, “I had the fortune and responsibility to be in charge of the education reform undertaken by Edi Rama and SP in 5 years, because SP chose me a former teacher, a former director of education to be in charge of education system”.
“We found an old curriculum, which was considered by all experts monitoring Albania as an overloaded curriculum, perhaps the most overloaded in Europe. A curriculum oriented by learning by heart, and we did not make patches, but removed the old curriculum and we brought that new curriculum of European standards oriented by competence, which enabled the cohesion between each level and we did this for every child from 3 to18 years old,” she said.
Nikola added that the new curriculum would also bring new textbooks, but there was no time to expect that the alter-text had degenerated into clientelism and corruption.
Next, Nikola spoke about the ways of being employed in education.
“In fact, there were two, the party card or the envelope of corruption, often both combined. These were the reasons that brought to the education system and we found in 2013, 5000 thousand teachers without relevant education or out of profile. Here too we followed a different path, not making the next choice, we built on the new system of teacher recruitment in education. We built the portal “Teachers for Albania”, a portal that brings merit, dignity to teachers, is offered in conditions of full transparency and undoubtedly leads to the best teachers in our children’s schools and today we have 11078 testimonies of teachers who thanks to their merit and “The Teachers for Albania” portal are in children’s schools”, she said.
Nikolla added that our entire reform has focused on the student, the key word of this reform remains all-embracingness./p.s./
