Reconstruction/ Margariti: We are building back resilient homes

TIRANA, March 5 /ATA/ Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, said on Friday that the recent candidates that have joined forces with the Socialist Party have aroused optimism to continue together.

In a televised interview, Minister Margariti said that “I am pleased that personalities engaged on the front line have joined us, for me this is a good spirit. I am part of this team and I will not draw back.”

Minister Margariti, also coordinator for design of projects in the reconstruction process, said that “the design of 24 neighborhoods, new development models, and over 150 education facilities has begun.”

“We have completed the design of projects, which is a big step forward. From 11 thousand families in tents, today after the earthquake there are about 500 families that continue to stay in tents and receive the rent subsidy,” she said.

Minister Margariti said that unlike Italy, which erred in the reconstruction process with the new neighborhoods turned into dormitories, in Albania such mistakes have been avoided.

“We are rebuilding resilient houses, not temporary ones. Spring 2021 will come and see more new housing units delivered to the affected families. The construction site of Laç has been a success,” she said.

“62 billion ALL have been allocated from the state budget to be disbursed in a 3-year period. 45 thousand families have received grants with an estimated value of USD 127 million, meanwhile construction of new neighborhoods is well on target, ” – Margariti added.
