Albanian film “The Van” on shortlist of best ten films for “Oscar”

TIRANA, February 16 /ATA/ It seems that during the recent times, the success of Albanian art and above all that of cinematography is not stopping. “The Van” is the title of the short film production by the new director Erenik Beqiri, who after the success he had in the official competition of the Cannes Film Festival, makes a surprise with the fact that the selectors of the “Oscar” awards have included this film in the shortlist of 10 of the best movies.

The production is directed by Erenik Beqiri, producers Ermir Keta, Amantia Peza, Olivier Berlemont and the actors in this film are Arben Bajraktaraj, Afrim Muçaj, French actor Phenix Brossard, Lulzim Zeqja, Romir Zalla.

On March 15, this list is expected to be halved and from that will come out only the films that will officially compete with each other for the trophy and the “Oscar” statue. The shortlist is currently made up of “Bitu”, “Da Yie”, “Feeling Through”, “The Human Voice”, “The Kicksled Choir”, “The Letter Room”, “The Present”, “Two Distant Strangers” And “White Eye”.

Every year, Albania is officially represented in this competition by the “Albanian Cinematographic Center” with the best production of the year, but it has never gone so close as to become part of the nominations.

The whole community of artists in Albania is enthusiastic about this special occasion where Albanian art is recently being seen with a different eye and kindness by critics and world art professionals. They hope that this year at least Albanian art will have the opportunity to bring to our country an “Oscar” statue. /a.a/p.s./
