TIRANA, February 11 /ATA /- The Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime, in cooperation with the State Police, cuffed this morning Judge Enkelejda Hoxha, and 9 other persons suspected of corruption.
The Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime imposed security measures in prison for the citizen Enkelejda Hoxha, judge in Kruja Judicial District Court, suspected of the criminal offense “Passive corruption of judges, prosecutors and other officials of the judiciary”, carried out in cooperation.
In January last year, Judge Enkelejda Hoxha decided on the conditional release from prison of Endrit Dokle, a convict suffering his life imprisonment sentence.
“Thanks to investigation of this proceeding, it was identified a genuine criminal scheme according to which convicted persons who were serving their sentences in Fushë-Krujë prison received a reduction of their sentence in exchange for providing benefits at times. The convicts initially took care to choose lawyer Aldo Tabaku as their defense counsel, and the latter, thanks to the relationship he had established with Judge Enkelejda Hoxha, enabled the convicts to benefit from the reduction of the sentence, against the sums of money paid irregularly. The investigation has proven that all this was done in exchange of irregular benefits of significant amounts in Euros, ranging from 6 to 12,000 Euros. The court secretary Emanuela Mallkuçi was also involved in this illegal scheme. In one case, after she got irregular benefit, she ensured that the convict’s request be passed for review to Judge Enkelejda Hoxha “, it is stated in the notification of SPAK.
The State Police executed today the security measures set by the Court. Likewise, in implementation of the decision, the Judicial Police at the State Police has exercised controls in over 16 houses and offices of investigated subjects, in order to find and seize material evidence. Investigations of this criminal proceeding will continue in order to fully clarify the circumstances and send for trial of all the investigated persons to the Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime.
Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj addressed the High Judicial Council on 5.11.2019 and 16.12.2019 for verification of information and clues which created doubts about the objectivity of this judicial process that was taking place in the Kruja Judicial District Court by Judge Hoxha for the convict Endrit Dokle, taking into account the fact that the same judge had tried all the requests of this person for reduction of sentence, amnesty benefit and change of the type of prison security from a high security prison to that of ordinary security ./p.s./
