TIRANA, February 11 /ATA/ Heavy rainfall, as well as melting of the snow in the northern areas have caused problems in the region of Shkodra and Vlora.
Prefect of Shkodra region Majlinda Angoni told ATA that, “We are on the ground in Dajç area with a working group of engineers and specialists as well as with the director of Civil Emergencies Haki Çako”.
“We are inspecting the situation and assessing step by step the need for emergency. The army and health structures are ready to respond to the needs of the residents, either by transport, or for health problems”, – said Angoni.
Prefect Angoni said that, “There are no flooded houses in Dajç, there is the presence of water in some houses and there is an increase in water level due to the inflows of the rivers Gjadër and Kir”.
Regarding the reports from the Drini Cascade, Angoni said that “Discharges are now reduced by 400 m3 per second, despite the fact that natural inflows are over 2 thousand m3 per second. The hydropower plant is doing its best not to cause at this moment any damage in the area of Nënshkodra “.
According to her, the most problematic neighborhoods have been the suburbs of Shkodra, after the Buna River got out of bed in part.
“So far, there are 10 families that have been evacuated in the neighborhoods of Shkodra, as this city is more problematic now than the area of Nënshkodra”, – said Angoni
Rainfall has caused problems in the streets of the city of Vlora, in neighborhoods where the water has reached several centimeters.
Prefect of Vlora region Flamur Mamaj told ATA that, “We are following the situation closely, now that the rain has stopped, the water is receding and the hydropower plants are working. We hope the situation improves.”
“Even in Orikum, the Radhima substation was flooded due to rain. Even in Panaja, due to the heavy rains, 200 ha of land are flooded”, – said Mamaj.
