TIRANA, February 9/ATA/- Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj stated today that, “The Disciplinary Board of Public Notaries is a very valuable achievement that has already been established.
The Board consists of two representatives from the National Chamber of Notaries, two representatives from the Ministry of Justice and one from the School of Magistrates”.
Gjonaj emphasized that the Notary Disciplinary Board is a very important structure to guarantee independence in decision-making.
“Today, we face other challenges, which are related with the prevention of money laundering. Council of Europe structures such as MONEYVAL have repeatedly asked us to carry out in-depth monitoring of the prevention of money laundering against all entities in which aspects of such issues are observed and where public notaries are included. The year 2021 will be focused on these inspections, on these monitoring, which serve us all. Although inspections and controls can be annoying, but in the end they serve an interest that is much greater, as it is about fulfilling a major obligation on the road to the European Union,” she said.
Likewise, Gjonaj added that, “On the one hand, we have a regulated legal framework, we have a complete reform of the service, and on the other hand the control mechanisms will have to be just as effective, not only for notaries, but for all free professions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice ”./p.s./
