TIRANA, Jan 28 /ATA/ Foreign exchange reserves will be invested in new financial instruments, in order to diversify and expand it.
In the Medium Term Development Strategy 2021-2023, the Bank of Albania states that “it intends to expand the instruments, whereby foreign exchange reserves are invested in inflation-linked bonds or forward contracts.”
This would serve not only to cover the emergency needs that the Albanian economy may have for foreign currency, but also to ensure higher returns from this reserve.
The country’s foreign exchange reserve reached 3.87 billion euros, with an annual increase of 17.2%, the Bank of Albania announces.
According to the BoA, the trend of investment in new foreign exchange reserve instruments follows the experience of counterpart institutions and second-level banks in the EU.
