TIRANA, Jan 21 /ATA/ Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi, said on Thursday with regard to the request of police for reopening the investigation into January 21, 2011 tragedy, that “the bullet in the body of Aleks Nika, is an evidence that has not been exhausted.
During a televised interview, the minister said that, “the state police structures are convinced that with this evidence in hand the criminal case for the murder of 4 citizens can be reopened.”
“Other than the circumstances, it is a piece of evidence that was never exhausted during the investigation of this case, the bullet that hit and remained in the body of Aleks Nika. This evidence can be exhausted now due to development of technology. Ten years ago, it was impossible for experts to answer the questions. “The police are now convinced that the expertise makes it possible, due to high technology, to answer the question,” said Çuçi.
“Many things would be brought to light if scientific expertise proved where it came from and how it came from and above all from which weapon it was fired. “
“This action is an expression of the will to deliver justice,” he said.
As to the OFL activity, the Minister informed that OFL last year marked incredible results in the fight against crime, while all police structures have ramped up the crackdown on crime in all directions.
According to him, the police force is independent, but transformation of IICS into an intelligence institution will hit every segment of police involved in the crime. Any police officer involved in any kind of crime will be held to account, Minister of Interior said.
