TIRANA, January 8 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that, “Thanks to the work done day by day and year by year on all the drainage infrastructure, the work to improve our protection capacities from natural disasters, at present, with this amount of rainfall we have a much more acceptable condition and under control compared to what would have happened if we were like those not so long ago when the calamity happened”.
At the meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Civil Emergencies, Prime Minister Rama said that, “We will continue to do our job in this difficult moment due to heavy rains in some areas. We have a standard protocol for our civil emergencies; we have standard protocols for preparation levels, for the establishment of structures in the territory and the escalation of the presence in the territory “.
“All of this has been implemented. The situation, of course, cannot be liked in those areas where rainfall has been intense, but it is a fact that thanks to the work done day by day and year by year with all the drainage infrastructure, thanks to all the work done by increasing our protective capacity from natural disasters, thanks to all the work done with the management of the cascade and so on, today with this amount of rainfall there is a much more acceptable condition and under control compared to what would have happened if we were like those not so long ago”.
Further on, while talking about the accusations of the opposition, Prime Minister Rama said that, “The vaccine to COVID was found and I hope to start performing it in our country with doctors and nurses ahead of the declared schedule. While the formula for the opposition despair vaccine has not been found yet, so they are unfortunately caught behind every illusory opportunity and of course every natural disaster to do politics.”
Prime Minister Rama said that, “The level of readiness and reaction in local structures has been improving. This fact can be seen in everything that happens on the ground “.
“It’s important to note that from the point of view of human life there is no harm. From the point of view of housing, the damages are minimal, from the mobility in those cases when it has been hindered, there has been immediate intervention of the forces that are for that work. Here I am talking about mobility for people, pedestrians, but also for the mobility of cars, as it was emphasized in the report made”, – underlined Rama.
The head of government said that, “From the information we have, we will have an important breathing moment between the moment that is passing and another moment that is predicted to be again with rain”.
“What is important in this break will alleviate the burden created by water accumulations and will enable us to have the capacity to cope,” he said.
“Readiness is and should be at the maximum level. Tomorrow, if necessary, and within this situation, the parameters will force us to hold another meeting of this Committee, we will do it for sure. If it is not necessary, we will continue to follow the situation according to the defined plan and the standards that we have consolidated “, – concluded Rama./k.s / j.p /p.s./
