TIRANA, Jan 7 /ATA/ Taking the necessary measures to cope with the situation triggered by bad weather and heavy rainfall was the highlight of a meeting held on Thursday at the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD).
Minister Milva Ekonomi held a meeting with the Regional Directorates of Irrigation and Drainage as the institutions in charge of water infrastructure maintenance in the country.
Taking into account the persistent downpour and weather forecasts for the upcoming days, minister Ekonomi was informed on situation on the ground.
The preparedness of the system was the highlight of the meeting and coordination with other responsible structures such as Prefectures, Municipalities and Electricity Distribution Operator (OSHEE) is crucial to cope with the situation.
“At the moment we should make sure that the pumping stations throughout the country are supplied non-stop with electricity and Regional Directorates for Irrigation and Drainage are able to pinpoint any problems that come from the weather difficulties and address them on time,” said Ekonomi.
