Minimum wage goes up to ALL 30,000

TIRANA, Jan 2 /ATA/As of today the minimum wage in Albania is ALL 30,000.
The decision to increase the minimum wage nationwide, from ALL 26 thousand to ALL 30 thousand is expected to have a positive impact.

In terms of social policies, poverty alleviation and support for consumption and living standards, especially for a category that lives on the minimum wage in Albania, this measure is expected to increase consumption and improve the welfare of the population.

This decision is expected to benefit a large number of employees in the country, mainly in the toll manufacturing sector, but also in that of services and other categories.

Raising the minimum wage is also considered a public tool for governments to intervene in the labor market in order to protect the most vulnerable groups, usually unskilled workers, in order to guarantee a minimum standard of living.

From 2014 until the end of 2019, the minimum wage has increased by over 31%. Meanwhile, during the period 2006-2013 the minimum wage increased by 18%.
