Quake-affected families gradually move into newly-built homes

TIRANA, Dec 27 /ATA/ – A growing number of families are returning to their newly-built homes in the 11 municipalities worst-hit by the devastating earthquake on November 26 last year, as around 1000 families will be celebrating the New Year’s Eve in their new houses.

Municipal workers will start collecting the makeshift container-homes in the village of Zall-Herr, Tirana municipality, as the quake-affected families will no longer need them, because they are now provided with permanent larger, safer and more beautiful residencies than the one they lost in the earthquake.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said Sunday that quake-affected families are moving each day into their new homes.

“Good morning and through the images showing a number of the newly-rebuilt houses in Tirana, while the quake-affected people keep returning to their new homes every day, I wish a peaceful Sunday to everyone,” PM Rama said.

Accompanied by the Mayor of Tirana, the government head personally handed over the property ownership certificates for the new houses built from scratch for many families in Zall-Herr.

Construction of 47 single-family homes has already completed in the area, whereas work to rebuild 200 more houses is slated to commence soon.
