Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas

TIRANA, Dec. 25/ATA/- The birth of Christ was celebrated in the early hours of Friday in the Tirana’s Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral.

A small number of believers attended the Christmas Mass, due to anti-COVID measures.

The birth of Christ symbolizes peace on earth and good will among men. Christmas is an annual feast commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed primarily on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world.

Christmas is the feast of the birth of Jesus, who is believed by Christians to be the Son of God, and God sent him down to earth to atone for the sins of mankind, and to bring him back to the house of God.

In compliance with the restrictive measures taken by the government due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania, Anastas Janullatos said that this year we will celebrate Christmas without superficial celebrations, without gathering with family or with many friends, but also without the mass participation of believers in the celebration ceremonies. //a.i/
