TIRANA, Nov 19 /ATA/ The Head of the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Najada Çomo, has described the allegations of DP head about underreporting of COVID deaths as a serious blow to professionalism of doctors and their efforts for 9 months running in the fight against COVID-19.
In a press release from the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Çomo appealed for an end to the political and media practice of playing with the death which, as she said, has cost the medical professionals dear in these 30 years.
“It is by no means true that COVID-19 deaths are under-reported and we say with full responsibility that this is not only practically, but also theoretically impossible,” declared Çomo.
“We publicly express our dismay at the accusations made by the Democratic Party head, Lulzim Basha, in a televised broadcast yesterday. Shocking accusations that deal a blow to our professionalism as a doctor and our efforts for more than 9 months now in the battle with COVID-19,” said Çomo.
“It is not at all our intention to spend time with statements, but in the face of such accusations we deemed it necessary to keep public opinion abreast. It is by no means true that deaths from COVID-19 have been underreported and we say with full responsibility that it is not only practically but also theoretically impossible. Every patient who dies is taken to the morgue together with the accompanying card, which contains the reason for the death of the citizen, signed and sealed with professional and legal responsibility by the doctor who treated him to the last moment, by the doctor who has ascertained the death of the person, ” she said.
