TIRANA, November 6 /ATA/ In context of the 100th anniversary of its creation, the National Library opened in the venues of the COD at the Premier’s Office a very rare exhibition of its wealth. These works are a part of the national heritage and not just the library.
Over 80 percent of these materials are displayed for the first time to the public, because they are treasures dating from the period of Greek antiquity, Byzantium, the Orient, Venice, etc.
There are about 800 books and manuscripts on display. Many materials also date from the period 1400 to 1800 and are classified as Antique as these books and drawings are handmade work.
Likewise, on display are materials by Pjetër Budi, Pjetër Bogdani, history from the period of Skënderbeg, etc. It is impossible to single out titles in this exhibition as it is about an extraordinary wealth of world materials that are already part of the property not only of the national library, but of all Albanians.
The exhibition is not expected to have a second show in the near future, making it a rare occasion to visit.
Due to the great attention that this exhibition has received, it has been decided to postpone it for a few more days, until November 11, to have the opportunity to visit, including the weekend.
The curators of the exhibition say that although antiCovid measures have been taken, they are aware that the exhibition will not be able to be visited by all interested parties. Therefore, the exhibition will be shot in 3D format so that it can be seen on the COD page.
Pirro Misha, who is also the director of the National Library, appreciated highly this exhibition. He said that the National Library requires investments because it lacks the conditions which are important to preserve the property that this institution has.
He also appreciated the work done by the former directors, because thanks to them we have a treasure accumulated in the 100 years of the National Library. /j.p/r.e/p.s./
