TIRANA, October 16 /ATA/ Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi said that the draft law, “On the registration, use and control of floating, tourist and entertainment vehicles, with an engine with power over 30 kw or 40.8 hp and with a tonnage below 150 gt”, serves the transformation of Albania into a sustainable tourist destination, not only in terms of natural beauty or modern investments in hotels, but with the aim of greater use of maritime potentials.
During his discussion in the plenary session of the Assembly on Thursday, Klosi said that, “This draft law comes after wide discussion by all relevant institutions and is in line after the changes in the law on maritime tourism and changes in the fiscal rate of vessels”.
“Albania’s tourism industry depends to a large extent on the sea and the types of tourism associated with it, but cruising in inland waters such as lakes and navigable rivers also plays an important role,” said Klosi.
He informed that the map of the areas where sailing takes place has already been approved, while efforts are being made to approve the rules on which maritime tourism will be developed. “But I say that the Albanian legislation has many possibilities to open other spaces on the law of the sea and the way the maritime activity works”, – noted the minister.
Klosi said: “This law we are discussing today aims to modernize this whole system. This law paves the way for changes in the Maritime Code and a normal competition in the region. The law provides facilities for maritime navigation and paves the way for increased economic benefits for families operating in this sector. /j.p//r.e/p.s./
