TIRANA, October 8 /ATA/ “Today, we are gathered to convey a clear message from the European Union that our country’s efforts in this complex journey were appreciated, and Albania and Albanians deserve to go on with the next step, that of holding the First Intergovernmental Conference as soon as possible”, stated today the Vice President of the National Council of European Integration Taulant Balla during the presentation of the” Annual Report of the European Commission for Albania “.
Balla said that, “During these days we have all heard the refrain that Albania has not progressed in any priority set by the Council”.
“This is the moment of the truth, where everyone finds themselves in the 125-page report, where the country’s achievements are listed in black and white, not only in the priorities set by the Council for holding the First Intergovernmental Conference, but according to the Commission steps are registered in all the Chapters that Albania must negotiate for full membership in the European family “, said Balla.
He recalled the context in which the country had to progress. “During this year, the country went through a devastating earthquake, the economic and social consequences of which will haunt us for years; and we are at the stage where we are continuing to face the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is bringing to its knees far more developed economies than ours. With this premise, of course, every advantage realized by Albania takes on a different value and proves the unwavering commitment of the majority and this government”, he said.
Balla guaranteed that, “We as the majority will always prioritize the advancement in reforms because at the end of the day they improve the lives of citizens”./m.m//a.a//r.e/p.s./
