TIRANA, August 19 /ATA/-Amendments to the Electoral Code have entered into force and the Central Election Commission has 60 days to be ready according to the new structure.
The member of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Bledar Skënderi gave the news saying that the current members will remain in office until the day when the Commissioner will be elected.
The current member of the CEC Bledar Skënderi said today that the changes in the Electoral Code have already entered into force and that the institution itself has 60 days to be ready according to the new structure.
Skënderi emphasized that the current members will remain in office until the day when the Commissioner will be elected.
“Today, the amendments to the Electoral Code enter into force. According to the new provisions, the mandate of the current members is terminated, but we remain in office until the day of the election of the Commissioner. Strong political clashes put the CEC body in very difficult situations. We tried to manage situations up to the absurd. “Maybe, as the Head of the OSCE-ODHIR mission, Audrey Glover, said, we were a little ‘creative.’
According to the agreement between the political parties on June 5, the new CEC will be composed of a Commissioner, an assistant Commissioner and two new bodies to be elected. According to the changes, the CEC will be a reformatted institution with representatives from the United Opposition. /a.a/p.s./
