TIRANA, Aug 14 /ATA/- The Bank of Albania notes that the domestic foreign exchange rate is stable in the first 6 months of the year.
According to data from the BoA, the exchange rate has stabilized since the end of April, at a slightly higher level than earlier this year.
The shock suffered at the end of March was amortized within the following month and the indicators of risk in the foreign exchange market have already stabilized, converging towards their historical average.
The BoA notes that the stability of the exchange rate and the lack of a strong depreciation of the lek after the spread of the pandemic was dictated by the contraction of the trade deficit during this period.
The BoA confirms that indicators of foreign exchange stress – volatility and quotation spreads – have returned to normal.
“Also, there are no one-sided positions in the market for buying or selling by market players. The indicator of bias proves the lack of one-sided expectations for appreciation or devaluation of the lek “, – emphasizes the BoA.
