TIRANA, Aug 13 /ATA/ The new Zoo is the next gem that will be added to Tirana, after being transformed into a perfect space for children’s entertainment.
The work for the long-awaited project has started and thanks to the investment of the Municipality of Tirana, the Zoo is being re-conceptualized as a suitable environment for animals, with recreational spaces for visitors and underground parking area.
Mayor Erion Veliaj said on Thursday that “the project of German architects embodies not only beauty, but also a special care for animals”. “I am very enthusiastic that the first day of work starts with a great project for the children of Tirana, a project that has been the highlight of talks with Prime Minister Rama for years, a project has been in the making for years, until we received the final design from German architects, who have designed zoos in Japan, Germany, America. All this time spent waiting was worth it because the project embodies not only beauty, but offers a special care for animals, ” said Veliaj.
He added that immediately after the first phase of the project, work will get started to revitalize the Botanical Garden.
“Another asset is added to Unit 13 and the Lake area. At first we rehabilitated the old part of the Lake, then we freed up the old part in the Farka area, we completed the bicycle lane, the running track, we multiplied the trees in the whole area made available from the time of the former commune. By adding the first phase of the project, which is the Zoo, and then with the second phase, which is the Botanical Garden, in the heart of Tirana we obtain a very big contrast between the urban space and a slightly wilder and exotic space, ” Veliaj said.
The mayor expressed his confidence that the new Zoo will open its doors by next June.
